作品集 The Work of fountain
AN ART SPACE OF CERAMIC "FOUNTAIN NIJI" In 1978 Kenji Azuma (born in 1938) started work on his life work in an open space among the mountains in Iitaka,Mie Prefecture,Japan, after he had made various experimentations and preparations since he first got an inspiration of creating this in 1961.The site of the fountain with an area of 5,600 square meters is situated in a quiet village surrounded by mountains, with a river flowing beside it. Fountain Niji consists of walls, statues and mosaic floors with a fountain in its center, He plans to finish this by covering all the ground of the site with ceramic works just as an artist paints his pictures on a canvas stroke by stroke. Those who visit this place, looking at a world presented with the reflections of the sunshine on each statue, are expected to have feelings similar to the ones the audience get in listening to a beautiful piece of symphony. The artist will declare its completion when the entire area has been filled with his works of ceramic art. |
